Dubai: The Dubai Executive Council has approved a strategy which aims to improve social standards and ensure high quality services for society.

It was approved at a meeting on Monday chaired by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

Components

The social strategy is based on three axes — prevention, social policy and programmes and service planning.

The council discussed the components of the strategy within the framework of Dubai Strategy 2010.

It stressed the importance of activating its three axes through identification and assessment of social needs and planning programmes. The council also emphasised proposing policies and legislation and ensuring the provision of good services.

It also called for organising awareness campaigns and support for service providers.

Security

The council reviewed the strategy that focuses on enhancing security, order, social and economic stability as well as on protecting freedom and public rights.

The council meeting touched upon the concept of national identity.

Shaikh Maktoum called for strengthening national identity. He said this could be done through educational campaigns.
