All departments must work as a team, Mohammad says

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called for putting all financial and human capabilities and expertise in the service of local governments, instead of local governments competing with one another.

Shaikh Mohammad made the call as he met on Tuesday second and third-line leaders in ministries and federal government institutions, as well as heads and chief executives of federal bodies.

During his first open dialogue session with national government leaders, Shaikh Mohammad expressed his pride in exchanging views with them for the best interest of the nation and nationals.

"As a federal government, we should put our expertise and financial and human capabilities in the service of local governments, rather than competing with one another," Shaikh Mohammad said.

He urged them to work as one team and called on the first-line leaders to give way to national qualified cadres from the second and third lines to play their role in the development of their nation and exercise their right to move to higher positions.

Shaikh Mohammad, however, stressed the importance of deepening the culture of competition at the global level, not at the local level, because the UAE is one country under one leadership - of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He called on the ministers, senior officials and the first-line leaders to listen to junior employees, help find solutions to their problems and benefit from their intellectual abilities so as to prepare them for future.

Shaikh Mohammad renewed his call and directives to ministers and senior officials to treat their employees fairly, especially those who showed dedication and excellence.

He urged officials to hone the potential capabilities of their employees and encouraged them to make progress and move to higher levels.

The Vice-President also called for scrapping red tape and bureaucracy, and asked ministers and heads of departments to go to the field and meet people because field work is the best way to bring about change and help others.
