Dubai: Four people have reportedly died after drowning in the Jumeirah open beach in Umm Al Suqeim area on Friday, Gulf News has learnt.
The Unified Ambulance Centre in Dubai confirmed despatching resuce teams and ambulances to the beach but they did not confirm the number of deaths.
According to witnesses the accident happened in the evening and resuce teams recovered some bodies on Friday night.
"Up to four people have died as I saw bodies being carried in ambulances," an eyewitness told Gulf News.
He said that hundreds of people gathered on the beach after dozens of police cars and ambulances rushed to the spot.
Police officials could not be reached for confirmation on the number of dead.
