Forum to combat human trafficking launched

Dubai: A few cases this year saw the human trafficking of young Iraqi girls from their war-torn home country, sold by their parents to work in prostitution, a senior official said.

Human trafficking is a global problem which is considered the second most lucrative criminal operation after illegal weapons trading, Afra Al Basti, CEO of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, said at a press conference to announce the launch of the annual forum to combat human trafficking. Deputy Commander General of Dubai Police, said this is the first summit launched by Dubai Police and the foundation to combat human trafficking and will be conducted annually.
