Football buffs have been advised not to shout or fight while watching matches
Dubai: Watch the World Cup football quietly and do not make a noise, said a top police official.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, has called on football lovers who are watching the World Cup on TV in coffee shops, cafeterias and other venues to watch the matches but not disturb the peace. Football lovers have been advised not to shout or even fight if their team loses or wins.
"Students are now sitting for their examinations. This noise affects their studies. Football fans should control themselves while watching their teams play," he said.
He said at this time of the year students should be given quiet to study so they can achieve their best.
He said marching on the streets or going around in groups, many making a noise and sounding horns is unacceptable.
This could also affect the traffic movement and cause jams. Besides, it will annoy others.
"Football fans should calm down and should stop any uncivilised behavior while watching the World Cup," Lieutenant General Dahi said.
