Flowers, music and sweets for guests at airport
Dubai: Pleasant surprises are in store for passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport this week, as the welcome committee and organisers of the DSS Flower Surprises Week have lined up a warm reception for arriving passengers.
Performers and traditional Liva and Ayyala bands are scheduled to perform on Mondays and Wednesdays to welcome passengers at the airport.
To kick start the DSS mood, arriving visitors are greeted with gifts, flowers, Arabic coffee, dates, sweets and first arrival prizes worth Dh3,000, the moment they step into the airport.
Families can also enjoy henna, face painting and balloon twisting, while an Arabic calligraphist writes the names of visitors on a card for free.
The Al Ghamidi family from Saudi Arabia, the first to arrive during the Flower Surprises Week, was delighted to win the Dubai Airport Majlis prize .
Mohammad Bin Yahya Al Ghamidi, a real estate dealer, has visited Dubai on several occasions, and is attending DSS for the second time. He plans to buy a house here.
"I am delighted to win the prize," added Ghamidi's wife, Wafaa.
