Warm days ahead but more chilly spells likely
Al Ain/Dubai: Forecasters have said there would be relief from the recent spell of cold weather from tomorrow but warned that further chilly spells are likely.
Both maximum and minimum temperatures have been several degrees below seasonal norms this week, leading many residents to buy heaters to warm up their homes.
Al Ain-based Emirati Abdullah Ali Al Saadi is among those to have installed room heaters at home.
"I have not experienced such cold in the last two decades," he said.
Residents across the country have been wrapping themselves up with jumpers and coats after sundown.
Possibility of rain
In Dubai, temperatures yesterday crept up to a maximum of 21.1C, dipped to 12.8C and were accompanied by a little rain. Other parts of the UAE recorded similarly cool temperatures.
Breezy conditions have made going outside seem particularly cold and have made conditions at sea potentially hazardous.
Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster at Dubai International Airport, said cool winds from the north west were responsible for the chilly conditions.
"[The cool weather] would continue till [tomorrow] and after that there would be a little bit of warming, although we're not expecting a radical change," he said.
Dr Gupta said temperatures are likely to dip again and rain is a possibility.
The temperature forecast for Dubai today is 12C with a maximum of 20C.
