UAE schools to take part in clean-up

Abu Dhabi: Students, teachers and education officials in the UAE have been urged to participate in the campaign aimed at cleaning the coast and help the victims of Cyclone Gonu in the eastern coast.

The UAE Minister of Education, Dr. Haneef Hassan, called on them to take part in the campaign.

"The ministry has designated next Thursday and Wednesday for educational institutions to participate in these voluntary activities, " he said.

The camapaign will cover many areas including Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Kalba, Suhaila and others and will be conducted in cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Takatuf programme for cleaning the sea coast.

Dr. Hassan hailed "the spirit of coordination and cooperation that the leadership of this country has infused among us."

"The ministry is keen to translate the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, into real and tangible work," he added.
