Traces of rain in Dubai offer no respite

Al Ain: Very hot and humid conditions will continue in Dubai and other coastal cities, with a cloud cover coming in late in the afternoon, said the weathermen.

There were traces of rain in some parts of Dubai, including Umm Suqueim on Thursday.

The clouds may give some showers in Al Ain and adjacent mountainous areas, but no chance in Dubai, said Dr S.K. Gupta, a meteorologist at Dubai Met Office. "The conditions would be very uncomfortable in Dubai with high temperature and humidity," he said.

Dr Gupta said a strong current of cold south-easterly winds has been passing at a height of 6,000 feet from over the emirates. These winds are helping in the development of clouds that result in thunderstorms in some areas.

There was some thunder activity near Al Ain yesterday afternoon.
