Dubai: Multiple thunderstorms developed offshore Dubai on Saturday lowering temperatures and bringing isolated showers.

As one thunderstorm headed inland north of Jebel Ali, another formed to the south of Dubai along the creek eventually decreasing as it moved inland.

According to Chris Worger, duty forecaster at Dubai International Airport, the worst of it is over with only limited risks of showers today.

"The temperature was 27 degrees Celsius before the thunderstorm then cooler air came through. We recorded 0.6mm of rainfall," said Worger.

Spectators at the Dubai Rugby Sevens will most likely experience wind and minimal rainfall. Sharjah and Ajman also experienced light drizzles on Saturday.

During the week there will be a risk of isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop offshore in the morning and evening on Sunday.

Waves offshore were recorded at a maximum of three to five feet which decreased to two to four feet.

Meanwhile, shamal winds coming from the northwest on Monday will bring with them cooler air.
