Sharjah residents shiver as temperature dips
Dubai: Sharjah residents experienced near-freezing conditions on Tuesday night as the temperature dipped to 5 degrees Celsius, but the meteorological office is promising warmer days ahead from Friday onwards.
"It will be blue skies, bright sunshine but colder nights for the next 48 hours," said Dr. S. K. Gupta, duty forecaster at the Dubai meteorological office.
There is no need to start buying heaters, he said, as the cold wave will soon dissipate.
The cold front coming in from Iran has not dropped temperatures to record levels. Dubai's lowest in February was 7.7 degrees Celsius a couple of years ago. Night-time temperature recorded in Dubai was 10 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night, the forecaster said.
The north-easterly winds usually bring in the cold weather. But daytime temperatures will not cross 20 degrees Celsius across the country, the forecaster said.
