Municipality is improving parks and plans to build sports complexes
Sharjah: The municipality yesterday announced the launch of the beautification project for the city of Sharjah that focuses on increasing the greenery near residential and commercial areas.
The announcement was made on the sideline of inaugurating Muzaireh Park, only open to women and children.
"The municipality will continue to keep improving the parks in residential areas and improve the services in recreational areas in order to ensure the residents of Sharjah are enjoying life, as well as to encourage tourism," said Sultan Al Mualla, Director General of Sharjah Municipality.
Improvement
The total number of parks has now reached 50 in both residential and recreational areas. During the plantation week that was launched last Sunday, the municipality said they are making great improvements, redesigning parks, planting trees and flowers, installing benches and playgrounds for the children, as well as building sports areas.
Al Mualla said the aim of the project is to increase the green belt and beautify the city.
The municipality is currently working on establishing an enclosed sports complex in all the parks.
The project will be completed in phases, they will construct 10 of the sports complexes every year.
The complexes will be equipped with air conditioning and another game area for children aged five and above to play educative and electronic games. The electronic games will be free of charge for children living in residential areas.
