Heavy rains bring UAE wadis to life
Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah: The heavy rains have transformed the otherwise dried up Wadi Galeelah, Shaam, Shoukah, Al Munaiei.
Many of these wadis in the Northern and Southern parts of the emirate have turned into tourist destinations with increasing numbers of people from around the UAE visiting these areas to enjoy the view of the water falls and dams.
A senior official at the Northern Region Department of the Ministry of Environment and Water said the water levels in the emirate's various dams have exceeded all expectations.
The official said that his department is currently receiving numerous calls from people from in and around the UAE trying to find the exact locations of these wadis so that they take a trip out there with their friends and families.
He added that RAK police patrols have been deployed at these wadis to ensure the safety of visitors.
The official said families from around the UAE have been visiting the dams and water streams in and other parts of the emirate.
Things are not the same in Fuhairah were residents are battling it out in the increasing volumes of rainwater brought on by moderate but continuous rainfall.
