Flights delayed across UAE because of rain
Dubai/ Sharjah/ Ras Al Khaimah: Many flights were delayed because of the heavy rain.
Outbound flights from Dubai were delayed by about 40 minutes on average due to flooded areas on the tarmac blocking access to aircraft in the airport zone, according to an official from the airport.
"The airport hasn't closed, but we are having delays of 40 minutes. The area from the airport to the aircraft are flooded so loading and unloading of baggage is being done manually," he said.
Getting crew to and from the airports has also been affected by the flooding and is causing delays.
Flights at Sharjah International Airport were all delayed. Javed Abbasi, duty manager, Sharjah International Airport, confirmed that all arrival and departure flights were delayed up to an hour-and-a-half. Two flights leaving Ras Al Khaimah International Airport were delayed.
RAK Creek Port stopped two commercial vessels from departure due to the heavy rain and high seas. Commercial movement in the port is at its lowest ever reported.
