Enviromena chief receives top award
Abu Dhabi: Enviromena Power Systems Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Sami Khoreibi, has been awarded "Entrepreneur of the Year" at the prestigious Alternative Energy Awards, an annual event celebrating the most significant achievements within the alternative energy industry in the Middle East.
Sami Khoreibi said: "I'm both delighted and honoured to accept this award. The start up of Enviromena was inspired by the potential for solar technologies in Abu Dhabi and the broader region."
"This opportunity enabled us to attract top talent and investors from around the globe," he said.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award, presented by Future Fuels and Energies magazine is given to an individual who deserves recognition for the most active or ground breaking renewable energy initiative or entrepreneurial leadership in a renewable energy company.
Eileen Michael, Group Publishing Director of the magazine who run the awards, said: "When looking at nominees for the award, Khoreibi was an obvious choice. His hands on approach, determination and innovative foresight combined with his passion and commercial acumen will ensure that both Enviromena Power Systems and the renewable energy industry in the Middle East have a very bright future."
The awards were first launched in Qatar in 2007. They feature 10 categories and were developed to celebrate environmental achievements and to promote the social and economic benefits of clean, sustainable energy.
Announced at an exclusive gala reception at the Hiltonia Hotel, Abu Dhabi, the awards were judged by an independent panel of industry experts and also doubled as the conclusion to Adipec 2008, a gathering of over 35,000 oil and gas industry experts.
Established in October 2007 as one of the first alternative energy providers in the UAE, Enviromena, which recently became one of the UAE's first CarbonNeutral companies, has become a pioneering force in the region's renewable energy industry.
The company is dedicated to meeting the growing energy needs of the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
