Emiratis turn out as Imams of mosques

Abu Dhabi: The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments has started preparations for conducting interviews to select prospective citizens as Imams of mosques.

The Authority recently announced an Emiratisation plan of the clerics, who will lead daily prayers in mosques, deliver sermons and give religious edicts.

The chairman of the Authority, Hamdan Musallam Al Mazroui, expressed his happiness over the satisfactory turn out of applicants for the prestigious position.

He said that the selected candidates will be given intensive training in the religious job.
