US-Arab body can be force for peace

Dubai: Members of the Arab-US Association for Communication Educators (AUSACE) have the potential to be a force for peace, enlightenment and understanding between the Arab world and the US.

To achieve this potential, AUSACE members must be inspired by a vision and act as bridge-builders to inspire others, said Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University (ZU), yesterday.

Addressing over 200 experts from 40 countries who are attending AUSACE's 12th global conference at ZU, Shaikh Nahyan said: "There is a critical need now for Arab-American understanding and dialogue. This understanding, which can only be built on shared beliefs, values, and ideals, will help us all to be more sensitive to each other's needs."

This year's three-day forum, themed Communication at the Crossroad of Globalisation, is sponsored by Gulf News, Dubai World, the Al Naboudah Group and Gulf Arena.
