Mohammad opens NYU arts campus

Institution will house all academic and cultural activities until completion of residential facilities

Abu Dhabi:  General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday officially opened the Downtown Campus of New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi, the first comprehensive liberal arts campus established in the UAE by a major US research university.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior; Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Shaikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; NYU president John Sexton, and Alfred Bloom, vice-chancellor of NYU Abu Dhabi.

Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the Downtown Campus will house all major academic and cultural activities for NYU Abu Dhabi during its first years until construction of the residential campus on Saadiyat Island is completed in 2014.
