Leading figures praise Mohammad's efforts

Dubai: The success of Dubai Cares has been hailed by some of the leading figures from the public and private sectors in Dubai.

Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim said he was not surprised "at all" that His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, decided to match the amount raised by Dubai Cares.

"It's his nature to do such a thing. He's determined to help people," he said.

The Consul General of India in Dubai, Venu Rajamony, said he wanted to congratulate Shaikh Mohammad on the campaign's success. "He has set an example to lots of other countries to take this personal initiative," he said, adding he was "especially proud" of the contribution made by the Indian business community.

Padma Coram, who runs entertainment promoters The Talent Brokers, said the initiative had been "great". She also said she had been moved by the very personal speech by Shaikh Mohammad.
