Dubai: A private education group on Monday introduced an education insurance programme that assures funding of pupils' tuition fees in the event of death or total disability of the family's primary bread winner.

Himmat Sandhu, Director, School Business Operations and Administration, Global Education Management System Education (GEMS), said EduShield programme offers global coverage for the parent and a tuition fee payout facility anywhere in the world, without geographical restrictions.

The maximum payout is between $225,000 (Dh825,750) and $600,000 at annual premium of Dh375 to Dh575 respectively.

"In the unfortunate event of a claim, the payout is made in accordance to the child's existing tuition fee in any GEMS or Non-GEMS school across the globe," he said.

"The payout will be made towards any school that the student attends even if it is not a GEMS school," Sandhu said.

According to him, education is far too valuable an asset to be left to uncertainty.

"We have seen our share of examples where the most brilliant of futures have had to face doubt due to financial or relocation constraints.

"EduShield has been designed bearing every aspect of an unfortunate incident in mind and therefore offers global coverage and the undoubted assurance of the child's tuition fee no matter what part of the world they are in," said Sandhu.

The customised education insurance programme is the result of a collaborated effort between Marsh Insco LLC, and GEMS Education.
