Dubai Public Library to host story-telling sessions for children every Thursday until July 4
Dubai: There will be free story-telling sessions for children during the summer holiday by leading authors and literary enthusiasts.
The Dubai Public Library (DPL) yesterday announced that it will conduct story-telling sessions at different venues every Thursday until July 4.
The story-telling sessions are open to Arabic and non-Arabic speakers through a diverse selection of stories to be shared with the children.
These will help visitors to better understand the various services offered by the Dubai Public Libraries, which serve as a truly valuable avenue for children to use their time productively during the forthcoming summer holidays.
The free sessions for children at DPL, owned and managed by Dubai Culture, will be led by leading authors and literary enthusiasts.
Abdul Rahman Ebrahim, Head of the Dubai Public Library Department, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “The weekly story-telling sessions at our libraries are being organised to foster interest in literature among the little ones, and to encourage reading at a young age. By sharing with them the marvel of the written word, we also aim to highlight to the children the valuable trove of reading material that is available for them at the Dubai Public Library. We want them to return to the libraries, explore the vast collection of books provided and enhance their overall cultural awareness.”
The first sessions will be held from 5.30 to 6.30pm on June 20 at Hor Al Anz and Al Safa; on June 27 at Al Twar and Al Mankhool, and on July 4 at Al Rashidiya and Umm Suqeim.
