Dubai driver praised for returning kilos of gold left by passenger

Dubai: A Pakistani taxi driver Rameen Khan has been honoured for his honesty as he returned 9.5 kg of gold and $40,000 (Dh146800) left by a passenger in his taxi.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), honoured Khan who works for Arabia Taxi.

Al Tayer praised the driver for his honesty. The driver had found in his taxi a bag containing 9.5 kg of and $40 thousand $40,000 and delivered the items to the company and the company management reported the matter to the case to the police.

The bag was given to the Naif Police Station, where it was handed over to its owner, a Chinese businessman.

“Honesty is one of the key pillars of excellence and good conduct of drivers. Both residents and visitors feel save while traveling in taxis, which are operated under the RTA's Dubai Taxi Agency,'' he said.

He added the RTA honours excellent drivers in the light of standards governing daily performance, safe driving, honesty, and adherence to rules and regulations set by the RTA, while paying considerable attention to timing and dedication to work.

“Honoring Rameen Khan will motivate other cab drivers to put sincere efforts to raise the level of passenger satisfaction," he said.
