Dubai banks send security warning to customers

The warnings follow advice from the Central Bank.

The Emirates Bank Group is sending warnings by SMS to its customers' mobile phones.

The messages warn customers to ensure all precautionary measures are taken while carrying cash from branches.

The warnings are simple: when withdrawing large amounts of cash be aware of your surroundings.

One bank is also putting up the messages at its teller counters in three languages.

"This is a very safe country, but it is better to be safe than sorry" said one bank official.
