Woman's wallet stolen at Atlantis complex
Dubai: A salesman has been charged with theft by the public prosecution following his confession that he stole a purse from a woman shopping in the Atlantis hotel complex at Palm Jumeirah.
The 25-year-old Filipino suspect who appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday admitted that one month prior to the Hotel Atlantis grand opening (November 24) he stole Dh18,000 plus 20 Kuwaiti Dinar from the female who has not been identified in court records.
An Australian manager told the public prosecution that the female hotel resident had complained her wallet was stolen while she shopped at the Atlantis centre.
The manager said he summoned the suspect, who when questioned about the incident, confessed to the theft.
The thief said the wallet contained Dh8,000 and 61 Kuwaiti Dinar. "The salesman claimed that the woman forgot her wallet on the counter... then he (A.M.) took the wallet and kept it in his possession until he used the money to purchase some goods," stated the manager.
The verdict will be announced soon.
