Warehouse fire destroys electrical equipment
Al Ain: A warehouse fire destroyed electrical equipment worth millions of dirhams in the Mezyyd district on Monday afternoon.
The blaze broke out in a warehouse belonging to a general contracting company at 5pm and firefighters took several hours to put it out. The cause of the fire is still unknown and the police and fire brigade have been investigating the incident.
Huge columns of thick black smoke spread around the area, which houses offices, workshops, and warehouses. The smoke was visible miles from the site.
Police and fire brigade units cordoned off the area to keep away a crowd of people gathered at the site. The fire was extinguished soon after sunset. Nobody was reportedly injured in the incident.
P.V. Murli, a worker at a neighbouring company, said the warehouse housed a huge amount of electrical equipment such as transformers, wire, and electrical fittings worth millions of dirhams.
