Dubai: A lawyer has asked a court to bring in 22 prosecution witnesses to give their statements in the case of last year's robbery of jewellery worth Dh14.7 million in Wafi City mall.

Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir adjourned the case until February 13 for a batch of five witnesses, out of the 22, who will testify before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The Public Prosecution charged 33-year-old N.M. with aiding and abetting an unidentified number of fugitives in the robbery.

N.M.'s lawyer, Ali Abdullah Al Shamsi, of Ali Abdullah, told Judge Mounir on Sunday "it is essential to listen to all the 22 witnesses to be able to defend my client".
