Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have arrested two people for allegedly stealing more than Dh666,000 from bank customers in different parts of Abu Dhabi, a police officer said.
Col Maktoum Ali Al Shareefi, director of the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department, said the two suspects, a Jordanian and an Egyptian, were caught while trying to steal from another customer.
Major Ra'ed Gareeb, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Organised Crime unit, appealed to the public to take care when they carry large amounts of cash.
Meanwhile, Al Ain Police have arrested a four-member-gang for allegedly swindling 80 people of Dh20 million by running a bogus investment portfolio.
Col Hamad Ajlan Al Omaimi, Director of Al Ain Police, said police raided the men's premises and arrested them for conning and swindling dozens of victims. Police seized their property and funds.
Col Al Omaimi said the suspects resorted to tricks to make their victims believe in a get-rich-quick scheme.
