Six on trial for computer theft

Dubai: Six workers are on trial for allegedly stealing laptops and other types of computers in Dubai. Public Prosecution records said the Pakistani suspects admitted that they broke into a villa-based electronics company, stole computers and ran away.

They were arrested when they allegedly returned to carry out a second round of theft.

A 33-year-old Filipino security guard testified that he saw two people jumping over the villa's wall and spotted a third one in the backyard around 10pm.

"Instantly, I informed my supervisor and went inside ... I found two men hiding inside a closet," he said in his statement.

Police arrested the remaining suspects who were all referred to the Dubai Court of First Instance where they are currently being prosecuted for theft, as charged by the Public Prosecution.
