Receptionist on trial for running brothel in hotel
Dubai: A receptionist has denied running a brothel with 14 women in a Naif hotel where he worked, a court heard on Sunday.
The 14 Uzbek girls, aged between 18 and 39, have also denied working in the sex industry before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi worker, M.S., denied leading clients to the hotel for sex.
The Public Prosecution charged the 14 Uzbek girls with working as prostitutes. Ten of them have also been charged with illegally staying in the country after their visas expired.
The 34-year-old Indian receptionist, S.T., was charged with running the hotel as a brothel by allowing the girls to use the rooms and have sex with customers for money.
Aiding crime
The worker, M.S., was charged with helping the receptionist get customers.
A police captain testified: "An informant tipped us that the first two floors of the hotel were being used as a brothel. We raided the place and arrested the girls on those two floors. We also found condoms and other items that were meant for the customers."
The captain described each of the rooms as having a bed and a bedside table on which there was a condom and a lubricant.
"We caught M.S. who had keys to all the rooms which were used for prostitution. A curtain separated every two beds in each room," claimed the captain.
A first sergeant stated: "The girls were scared and half naked after the raid. They used to charge Dh50 to Dh70 per customer."
A verdict will be issued soon.
