Rapists get 10 years in jail

Dubai: Two unemployed men have been jailed for repeatedly raping two Russian teenagers at knifepoint after breaking into their flat in the early hours of the morning.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced each Emirati man, 20-year-old Y.A. and 21-year-old H.Y., to ten years in jail for repeatedly raping the teenagers.

The court also sentenced Y.A., H.Y. and their 18-year-old compatriot, A.D., to three years in jail for forcing their way into the teenagers' flat in the Al Rifaa area and stealing two mobile phones, a laptop and Dh15,000 in cash.

Records said the trio trespassed into the flat and carried out the crime after intimidating the seventeen-year-old girls with knives.

The Public Prosecution charged Y.A. and H.Y. with raping the girls, identified as S.E. and T.R., at knifepoint.

S.E. testified that she was raped twice.

A mechanic is facing trial for breaking into a waitress's bedroom, assaulting, threatening and raping her at knifepoint and robbing her mobile phone while under the influence of alcohol.

Records said the 41-year-old Turkish mechanic trespassed into the 29-year-old Filipina's room, held a knife to her face and shouted "don't shout... I will kill you" before raping her. The Filipina, M.S., said she ran behind the defendant when he left the room and cried for help. "A number of workers arrived and called the police... I sustained a cut to my arm."
