Policeman's cellphone records waiter's crime

Dubai: A waiter has been found guilty of molesting a young girl at an airport after a policeman recorded the crime on his cell-phone, a court said yesterday.

The Dubai Court of First Instance gave the 27-year-old Egyptian waiter, W.Z., a three-month suspended jail term. Presiding judge Abdul Majid Al Nezamy said the accused will be deported.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with molesting the Arab girl, identified only as S.F., four times at the terminal by rubbing his body against her buttocks.

Unaware

Unaware that the incident was recorded on the policeman's cell-phone, he pleaded innocent and denied the charges before the court.

The policeman said, in his statement, that the waiter was staring at the posteriors of women and girls.

The policeman said he filmed the waiter's actions as there were no surveillance cameras in the area. The footage was brought as evidence against the defendant in court.

"A security guard pushed back a barrier to prevent people from crowding at the arrivals section. The girl was pushed back by the crowd and the waiter pushed himself against her four times," said the policeman.
