Police launch Sahel system to enhance link with public

Al Ain: Police have installed automated machines in different shopping malls of the city to offer several electronic services and enhance communication links with the general public.

The new e-services and payment system has been given the name of Sahel [facile] and are installed by the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police.

"The project aims at establishing channels of communications with the police," said a police source.

The Sahel system is equipped with sophisticated and secure methods of payment that allow people to settle transactions in cash or via credit cards. The source said the machines offer online services such as payment of fines, fees, and verification of violations.

Rotation schedule

The machines also offer interactive maps, pharmacy rotation schedule and weather forecast. Also it provides a channel of communication with the public through special services. People can lodge complaints, submit proposals, get security information, addresses, and telephone numbers of police stations in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The police have also placed information and instructional leaflets along the machines that give a complete introduction of the system. The machines have touch-sensitive screens enabling the users to interact with the system.

A keypad is also available for complaints, proposals and communication messages.

The source said the machines generate a slip for the transactions and the users must keep the receipts for records.
