Dubai: Police has developed new leads that may crack the case of the daring Wafi City robbery, Gulf News learnt yesterday.

No arrests have been announced by Dubai Police, who continue to hunt the group of robbers which raided the store Graff on Sunday night and managed to snatch jewellery worth more than Dh50 million.

The police were tight lipped yesterday and officials didn't comment on reports of arrests made in the case. However, according to a senior police official, authorities "now have positive indicators" that may lead to the perpetrators.

The official didn't give out further details.

The robbers had burst into the store at 9.30pm using two cars. Officials close to the investigation said the diamonds that were looted were displayed in four glass showcases in the front of the shop and their value was estimated to be more than Dh50 million.

The cars that were used in the heist were stolen and later abandoned. The burnt vehicles are now being examined at the police forensic laboratory.
