Dubai The Dubai Police is still carrying out investigations to identify and capture the person behind the recent robbery at the Levant store in the Al Qasr Hotel.

Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim said the criminal investigation department will soon reveal the identity of the person involved in the robbery.

According to police reports, a man disguised as a guest hotel managed to force open a case at the main entrance from the outside of the Levant Store by using a metal rod.

He managed to steal a diamond necklace and two rings - estimated but not yet confirmed - to be worth millions.

The store attendant was suspicious about the person inciting her to alert a hotel security guard who attempted to stop the suspect, but fell on the floor after a brief confrontation with him. The guard managed to snatch one of the rings and part of the diamond necklace as it was split during the confrontation.

The incident took place last Monday during the evening while the store was still open.

Police who are still carrying on investigations said it is unclear why the security guard did not chase the thief, who is reported to have walked away calmly from the hotel to his car.
