Man sentenced to 10 years for raping 13-year-old in a brothel

Dubai: A jobless man has been jailed for ten years for having sex with a minor girl, who was referred to juveniles court, after their arrest from what records described as a brothel.

The Dubai Court of First Instance awarded the 22-year-old accused - who did not carry any identification documents at the time of his arrest - to ten years in jail after he was convicted of raping the 13-year-old Emirati minor girl.

The teenaged girl testified in her confession that she had been having consensual sex with the accused, H.E., for some length of time. She is currently being prosecuted before the Dubai Juveniles Court for having illegal sex with H.E.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with raping the girl. According to federal laws, a suspect is charged with rape for having sex with someone under the age of 14.

An Emirati police sergeant testified that an informant alerted the Bur Dubai police that a house in Satwa was being run as a brothel. "A police squad surrounded the house and my role was to raid the place from the backyard. A half-naked man, identified as A., answered the back door. I found H.E. in an indecent position with the naked girl in one of the bedrooms. A second teenaged couple were also sitting in another bed across the room.

"H.E. and his partner were surprised to see me and asked me to wait outside until they put some clothes on. Meanwhile, a person named M. arrived at the place and he was planning to spend the night with them," said the sergeant in his statement.

The witness cited H.E. as saying, during the police questioning, that he was the first man who had sex with the 13-year-old and they had been having an affair for an unspecified period. She also confirmed her sex partner's statement and admitted that "it happened willingly".
