Man guilty of rape imprisoned

Dubai: A suspect will spend three years in jail for raping at gunpoint a German man whom he met at an arcade centre, ruled a court yesterday.

The Dubai Court of First Instance also fined the 27-year-old UAE national, E.E., Dh1,000 for consuming liquor.

Meanwhile, the court acquitted the defendant of kidnapping the 30-year-old German victim, O.S., and ordered confiscation of his air gun.

The Public Prosecution had charged the Emirati of kidnapping the victim, driving off to a remote area, threatening him with an air gun and having an affair with him against his will. "I am innocent against all charges. I did not rape or kidnap him," E.E. said.
