Dubai student jailed for forging id card
Dubai: An Emirati student has been cleared of consuming drugs, which he used for his mental disorder, and fined Dh10,000 for bringing in 3,817 mind-affecting and bodybuilding pills.
Dubai Court of First Instance also jailed the 22-year-old student for three months because he forged a VIP identity card, which he used to evade search by the airport customs. He was slapped an additional fine of Dh5,000 for unlawfully importing medicines without permission.
His lawyer Mohammad Al Redha, of Al Redha Advocates and Legal Consultants, defended: "My client has been suffering from epilepsy and psychological panic for five years ... he takes these drugs as medication."
