Dubai murder suspect says victim made advances

Dubai: A man has claimed that he was defending himself when he accidentally killed his colleague whom he accused of making advances to him for three months.

The victim was buried alive after being hit with an iron rod.

Records said the 22-year-old Indian worker hit his Pakistani workmate, 43, with an iron rod before burying him in a deserted spot where he claimed the deceased wanted to have sex with him.

Following the incident, the suspect had a nervous breakdown and told his brother over the phone what he had done, his brother then reported the matter to the police.

"I didn't intend to kill him... I am not guilty. I defended myself when he tried to beat me," said A.H. who denied the charges before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.

The suspect repeatedly beat M.B. with an iron rod, stifled him with a rope and then buried him in a hole he had dug. A police major testified that the suspect's brother, M.E., reported that his brother had killed someone and buried him in the Al Marmoum area.

"During questioning, A.H. claimed that the deceased kept calling him for three months for sex with him ... the worker alleged that the victim was persistent, urging him to comply with his homosexual advances, but he refused. Finally he agreed and when they met in a deserted spot A.H. beat his colleague with the rod which he hid behind his back. He claimed that later he buried him."

The autopsy proved that the victim was still alive when he was buried.
