Driver jailed and ordered to pay Dh200,000 for causing death of elderly passenger

Fujairah: A Pakistani driver was jailed for three months and ordered to pay Dh200,000 in life compensation by the Fujairah Criminal Court after being found guilty of causing the death of his passenger.

The Emirati victim, in his late sixties, was thrown out of the car driven by the Pakistani driver after the car they were traveling in collided with a road lamp post and barrier.

The accident happened last month near the town of Farfar.

The Emirati was admitted to the intensive care unit in Fujairah Hospital in a serious condition but died the following day of his injuries. The driver only suffered slight injuries in the accident.
