Al Ain: A speeding car ran over a student in front of the teenager's classmates in Al Ain's school district on Monday morning.

The Rescue Section of Al Ain Traffic Police rushed to the accident scene, but Faisal Khan alias Tipu, a 16-year-old Pakistani student, died on the spot.

Tipu was crossing the road when the accident happened.

A police official said the driver of the car has been arrested and further investigations are under way. He said the apparent cause of the accident appears to be over speeding.

The action against the driver must be taken in any severe way and that is the only way to stop these accidents from happening again. May Tipo rest in peace.

Pedestrains should take caution while crossing the road, the blame is not for driver only.

I agree with the usual comment that the driver was driving at a high speed, but at the same time pedestrain crossings are available near schools. People should cross at those places after making sure that it is safe to cross. Meanwhile, I feel sorry and have sympathy with the boy.

Strict actions should be taken against the driver. The police should not free the driver.

It is really hard to believe that Tipu is no longer among us. May his soul rest in peace. I hope his family recovers from this sadness.

This was not the first accident and it definitely will not be the last. Frankly, I think it is wrong to squeeze all the schools in one area, and across the road from the housing area. I mean, is it that so children find it easier to walk to school? It would have been a good plan to walk to school but then why separate the two areas with a main road, which is always busy? I think the authorities have to look for a solution because apparently the speeding drivers cannot be controlled and children will not stop crossing the road. So, I suggest that a pedestrian bridge be built.

Tipu was a great student and a great friend. Drivers need to learn that the moment they step behind the wheel, the life of an innocent is in their hands. I hope Tipu rests in peace.

We encountered a lot of speeding vehicles in Al Ain. Authorities should do some disciplinary actions towards such careless drivers.

Just the thrill of speed has caused a life. I want to ask the driver, was it worth it? Can he or she face the boy's parents?
