Dubai: Three British students are standing trial for smuggling and possessing drugs for personal use and consuming hashish in a flat in Dubai.

The three college students, F.L., H.K. and A.A., all aged 21, are charged with smuggling and possessing 5.72 grams of marijuana which they intended to use plus consuming hashish.

The urine tests of the suspects who appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance last week tested positive for hashish. A second lieutenant at Dubai police's Anti-Narcotics Department testified: "An informant alerted us that the suspects kept drugs in their flat where they were taking them.

When we raided the flat, F.L. confessed he had marijuana, meanwhile H.K. said he didn't posses any drug. F.L. claimed that he smuggled the drugs from Britain and consumed them in Dubai."

A policeman found a bag containing drugs hidden in the ceiling.

"A.A. admitted he had consumed drugs with the other suspects on the flat's balcony. We also found marijuana in his hotel room," the policeman said in his statement.
