Sharjah: A 15-year-old boy was caught begging at Al Qasimi Hospital on Monday morning.

The Yemeni teenager, E.A., is now facing deportation as his family failed to come forward to bail him, an official at Sharjah police told Gulf News on Wednesday.

The boy said he was from a poor family which could not support him. He gave police the mobile numbers of his relatives, but none of them answered their phones.

According to the UAE law, any expatriate caught begging will be jailed for three months and fined up to Dh10,000. The teenager is now awaiting trial.
