The family of the boy had filed a missing case with Ajman Police
Ajman: The body found floating in the sea off Ajman on Sunday was identified yesterday as that of a 12-year-old Pakistani boy who was reported missing on April 25 by his parents.
Brigadier General Ali Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, told Gulf News that the body found was that of Omar Pervez Ahmad, a Pakistani boy who was reported missing. He said the boy had gone to the beach along with his friend and he drowned while reportedly swimming in a prohibited area of the beach.
He said that a group of Filipinos who were at the beach at the time told police that they had spotted a person bobbing up and down in the water and they suspected that somebody had drowned in the sea. The body, which was recovered three days after the incident, was sent to Khalifa Hospital and later handed over to his family for burial. Ajman Civil Defence recovered the body.
Gulf News had published on Monday that an unidentified man’s body was spotted at 2pm by a civil defence team on duty at that time.
