Nokia to work with T-Mobile on wireless internet services
Helsinki: Nokia, the world's biggest maker of mobile phones, will collaborate with Deutsche Telekom's T- Mobile unit in providing wireless internet services.
The pair will be able to offer their European customers faster access to T-Mobile's web'n'walk and Nokia's Ovi services, Espoo, Finland-based Nokia said in a statement on Friday.
The company will also customise its devices to T-Mobile's customers and the agreement includes social networks such as T-Mobile's MyFavs.
Accord
The accord is Nokia's fourth with a major European phone operator after the company unveiled its Ovi portal to offer music, maps and games last year.
The move has caused concern among some operators that revenue will be taken from them. T- mobile said in February Nokia's initiative confuses customers.
"Easy access to a wide variety of services will enhance the way people use their mobile devices," said Anssi Vanjoki, head of Nokia's Markets unit, in the statement.
Nokia has signed various agreements and tentative deals with Telefonica SA, Vodafone Group and France Telecom SA's Orange unit. It has also announced cooperation with Telecom Italia SpA. Bonn-based Deutsche Telekom is Europe's biggest phone company.
"We are pleased about developing our long-lasting and successful cooperation with Nokia, which underlines our position as an innovation leader," said Christopher Schlaeffer, group and product innovations officer at Deutsche Telekom.
