Dubai: LG Electronics is making a fresh push into health and environment conscious appliances with the recent launch of its "LG HealthCare Campaign".

The Korean electronics firm used Dubai as its global launch pad for the collection, which includes an air conditioner equipped with bio-enzyme filters to refrigerators that keep fruits and vegetables longer and nutrition-conscious ovens.

A 2006 study conducted by research firm Synovate found that more than 90 per cent of 1,000 respondents in the Middle East and Africa stated that health was one of their biggest concerns today.

In addition, the same number said they have experienced health-related problems within the past year. Respiratory, skin and nutrition-related diseases rated as most common across the region.

"People are increasingly concerned by the significant environmental changes caused by rapid construction and development," the company said in a release.

LG introduced its full health-oriented product line including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, light wave ovens, vacuum cleaners and air purifiers.

"In the Middle East region, health concerns are dramatically escalating due to many factors including the construction boom, increasing traffic and changes in diet. LG is expected to lead this new category of health-conscious home appliances here," said Ki-Wan Kim, LG's regional president.
