Dubai:

This wireless portable speaker is the child of two technology companies —JBL and Nokia. It features JBL’s proprietary and in some ways, legendary, sound systems with design influences from Nokia. In fact, it’s been designed specifically for Nokia’s Lumia set of handsets.

This speaker’s key attraction is its near-field communications (NFC) capability. Tap your NFC enabled phone to the front of the speaker and you’re instantly paired to it — no setup and no cables. This feature isn’t restricted to the Nokia set of handsets; just about any NFC-enabled phone would work. If you don’t have an NFC-enabled phone, the JBL speaker can be manually connected to via Bluetooth pairing as well. And if you like to go old school, the JBL still supports direct cable connectivity via a 3.5mm port. The music doesn’t have to stop for connectivity.

And the music doesn’t stop for 10 hours on a single charge. The JBL speakers feature a microUSB port for charging which make it easy to connect to a wall socket or a laptop to power-up. The sound throughput is pretty impressive for a single speaker; at 10 watts the sound is loud enough to fill a small room and the bass ensures it isn’t flat. At 760 gm, it’s light enough to carry around but don’t expect to place the speaker in your pocket. The JBL speaker is priced at Dh695 and is available at electronic stores in the UAE.
