When they say less is more, they are definitely not talking about screen resolution. Just about everything on the web today looks better on a full HD screen that's 1920x1080. With a higher screen resolution, you fit more of the web page or your office document in a single screen resulting in way less scrolling. It's a lot more useful than it sounds.

The LG E2360 offers the same higher resolution display spread over a 23-inch screen. The first thing you notice about the monitor, before even turning it on, is how thin it is. Coming in at less than an inch, it's amazing how far we've come from the chunky CRT boxes of yesteryear. Even the bezel surrounding the screen is rather thin, thereby not increasing the size of the screen by too much.

The monitor is supported by a stand at the bottom, which seemed to be its weakest point — literally. While the monitor is not going to fall off it, the setup feels a little shoddy. There is neither support for changing angles, nor the orientation on the stand. You'll have to physically move the monitor should you find yourself wanting to change the former.

The E2360 features a set of buttons below the bottom right of the screen. In addition to the power option, these buttons will let you navigate through a menu full of settings in the display of the monitor.

The monitor also features a light, just below the display and on the stand, which turns blue when the monitor is active and red when inactive/not connected. You may switch it off if you're not a fan. The monitor offers three different connectivity options — HDMI, VGA and DVI.

On setting the screen up, the colours look a little washed out. But a minute or two of adjusting the brightness, contrast and colours setting through the configuration panels will result in a much improved display. This is where the 5M:1 contrast ratio of the monitor really shines, which means the blacks are blacker and the whites whiter. The colours are deep and vivid, and offer a great experience. The display, with LED backlight, is extremely bright too.

The LG E2360 is a good-looking monitor which will deliver a lot more function to your desk (and workflow) than it will bulk. It is available for Dh1,299 at local IT retail outlets.
