Welshman ends Al Joker's amazing run
Dubai: Mohammad Al Joker's dream run in the ONGC-IBSF World Snooker Championship has ended at the Round-of-16 stage with Welshman Philip Williams beating the Emirati cueist 5-0 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
It was the farthest Al Joker had got to at a World Championship event and his run had been immaculate and unbeaten as he made the pre-quarters with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Australian James Mifsud.
Al Joker's compatriot Mohammad Mustafa Shehab, the UAE No 1 lost in the round of 64.
The semifinals of the tournament will be played tonight with Williams taking on England's Alfie Burden and Brazilian Igor Figueiredo facing China's Yu Delu.
Australia's Dene O'Kane and Welshman Darren Morgan went head to head in the Masters final late last night.
