Mamaia-Constanta, Romania: The battle for the 2008 Class 1 European Championship reaches a climax in Romania this weekend with the Dubai Victory Team red-hot favourites to win the sixth European title in their remarkable history.

The Romanian Grand Prix, to be staged in the Black Sea resort of Mamaia-Constanta some 200km from Bucharest, sees Mohammad Al Merri and Nader Bin Hindi carrying a ten-point advantage into Sunday's race with team-mates Jean Marc Sanchez and Abdullah Al Mehairbi their nearest real challengers.

Other possible contenders however include Jotun 90, crewed by Norway's Jorn Tandberg and Inge Brigt Aarbakke who are making massive strides and won the previous round in Arendal, Norway.

Defending title

Looking to defend his title is the current European title holder Jean Marc Sanchez, who enjoyed a stellar season in 2007, when he was crowned world champion as well as clinching the Romanian Grand Prix.
