UAE schools sparkle in Choueifat Olympiad

Dubai: Choueifat International School organised one of the biggest regional school sports event. They called it the Choueifat Olympiad.

It was indeed a mega event with competitions being held in swimming, sprint, long jump, football and basketball.

Over 1,000 students aged between 8 and 18 from 17 schools and representing eight countries competed in the events. They carried away 240 medals and five trophies. The event was held as part of the SABIS Network of schools regional competition.

The UAE schools put up a good show with ISC Dubai winning all the girls' swimming events (under 12's, under 16's and relay), while the Air Force Secondary School, Al Ain took home the silver and bronze in the Under 16 boys' swimming competition.

ISC Sharjah won the silver in the Under 16 girls' sprint, girls' swimming relay and the bronze for the boys' basketball, Under-12 girls' sprint event (Ashley Mansour).

ISC Abu Dhabi took away the bronze in the Under-12 boys' sprint, Under-16 boys' sprint, Under-16 girls' long jump and the girls' swimming relay.

In the Under-18 football event, Air Force Secondary School from Al Ain emerged as the champions. Mansour Al Farsi bagged the golden boot award.

The International School of Choueifat (ISC) Lebanon bagged the girls' basketball title while. ISC Koura (Lebanon) won the boys' basketball event. Farah Nassour from ISC Dubai won the most valuable player award.

ISC Koura also won the Under-14 football tile with Ebrahim Dip bagging the golden boot.
